Global Missions and Ministries
Humberto and Carmen Del Arca are Hondurans. They came to faith in Christ in the 1980s and Humberto grew as a leader through the influence of an American missionary, George Patterson. He connected Community Baptist Church with the Del Arcas and his expanding church planting ministry in northern Honduras. Through our support of Humberto over 200 churches have been planted with every pastor discipled and trained through Theological Education and Evangelism by Extension (TEEE). Each summer a team from Community spends ten days helping with the construction of a church building for this expanding ministry.
Daniel and Joi Ehmann milanandbeyond.net/Ehmanns.htm serve in Italy with World Team worldteam.org. For centuries Europe was Christian but it is now functionally secular. Joi served at Community Baptist Church while in seminary and she then took that experience and training to help churches in Hungary develop children's ministries. Upon marrying Daniel she moved to Italy to join him in Milan where their ministry is focused on starting new communities of believers, which means creatively sharing Christ and developing new leaders for these churches. Joi also facilitates the training of the World Team workers in cross-cultural church planting.
Robin Hanna-Harter leads Signs of Love signsoflove.org (SOL), a ministry committed to reaching the deaf in the rural villages of developing nations. The main country of focus is Honduras, which grew out of Community Baptist Church's partnership there with church planting. Robin initially came to Community to help develop our ministry to the deaf. Through involvement with some of Community's summer mission trips her eyes were opened to the needs of the deaf throughout the world. She then started Signs of Love and relocated to Honduras.
Jeff and Nozomi Johnston johnstonjournal.com, along with their children, Ellie and Zack live in Japan. They serve with Asian Access asianaccess.org, working with national leaders to train pastors and plant churches. The Johnston's were involved at Community Baptist Church for many years before moving to Japan to be involved in this equipping ministry there.
Byron and Pam Spradlin lead Artists in Christian Testimony actinternational.org (ACT) based in Franklin, Tennessee. ACT's mission is to mobilize, equip and support Christian artists and missionaries with artistic expression for the Great Commission around the world. This is especially strategic given how people learn through music and the arts. Byron was Community Baptist Church's first worship pastor and then planted one of Community's daughter churches, New Hope, while continuing to give leadership to ACT.
WorldVenture worldventure.com is an international Christian missions ministry with whom Community partners. We invest financial resources so we can help plant churches around the world and see God's Kingdom advance. One of Community Baptist Church's particular concerns is to bring the message of Jesus to countries in the 10/40 window. Thousands of people groups exist in this area without a church, many never hearing the name of Jesus. WorldVenture seeks to produce significant positive changes in the lives of children, churches and communities through partnerships with people who serve Christ through ministries of evangelism, church development, leadership training, compassion and local mission movements.
