Parent Corner

Greetings to all of you parents and volunteers!

This page was designed specifically for you.  The intent of this page is threefold: for you to be able to more easily access all that is going on in the Exodus junior high ministry, that you would know how you can get involved with Exodus if you so desire, and that you could have a place to go for some  practical and biblical resources for parenting.  This page can also be a place that you can ask questions if you need advice about something that is going on in your household or if you just need someone to pray for you.

In the world of today's teens it seems that there is so much going on and so much change but so little time to adapt.  May this be a place where you can be informed, knowing what is happening for your youth in the Exodus junior high ministry.

Sincerely,

Jeanne Scheetz                                                Michael Westfall

Mission and Vision of Exodus

Mission Statement:
CBC Student ministries exist to help students: encounter Christ, experience transformation, and become more the people God intended them to be.

Top Seven Vision Goals of Exodus:

  • 1) Spiritual growth and maturity/development/progress/ build a solid foundation in their faith/ living out a lifestyle of worship (whole life worship)
  • 2) Strong parent involvement and support
  • 3) An accepting/trusting/loving/authentic/family/close-knit youth group
  • 4) Sound biblical teaching for students so that transformation occurs
  • 5) For students and staff to deal with sin and have victory over sin (accountability)
  • 6) Visible discipleship/mentoring/coaching/small group relationships present
  • 7) Develop, train up, and equip for ministry a strong team of leaders

Liability Form:
Please fill out one of these forms for each of your children if they plan on going to Exodus events throughout the year.  This form will last from June to June each year.  Once you fill it out once, you will only have to fill out a form again if any of your information changes.  Also be sure to note in the application if you do not want your child's pictures to be displayed on our website or for public viewing (This would be any pictures taken at our events that we have on file).  Print out the attached form and turn it in it either Jeanne Scheetz or Michael Westfall.

Volunteer Needs:
We are always in need of volunteers for the Exodus ministry.  We have places for you to serve that range from just once to on a regular basis.  Below are all of the areas that are available to serve in.  If any of these are of interest to you, please contact Jeanne Scheetz 909.945.5001 x238 or Michael Westfall 909.945.5001 x263.  We would love to have you on the team!

Small Group Leader: If you like to invest in a few students' lives at a time and you like to facilitate group discussion where everyone feels involved, this could be the perfect place for you to serve.  We have small groups happening at each of our weekly meeting times including Wednesday evenings, Friday evenings, and Sunday mornings.

Weekend Volunteer: Come be a part of the Friday evening and/or Sunday morning services.  Help out with any or all of the available areas: welcoming and greeting the students, running the games, teaching the lessons, giving announcements, and small group discussion.

Wednesday Volunteer: Spend your evening with our awesome and energetic junior high students.  Available areas: Help run our café, help facilitate the group game, help lead worship, get involved with the skit team, teach the students God's word, and help lead a small group.  Invest in students' lives in a way that will impact them forever.

Event Drivers: Some events throughout the year call for us to transport students to locations outside of the church walls.  These are events like camp, going to watch a baseball game, jumping jacks, etc.  We need volunteers who are willing to drive for these events as they come up.  Just email us to add your name to our driver's list.

Event Helpers: Some of our events throughout the year call for more volunteers than we have staff.  This is a great way to get involved if you cannot commit to volunteering on a regular basis, but if you would still like to help out.  These are events like Fall Out, our yearly outreach to junior high and high school.

Home Lenders: If you are willing to open up your home to the junior high group and share your hospitality with us, this would be a well-appreciated form of volunteering.  If you have a pool that needs swimming in or if you would allow us to watch a movie or play games in your home, this is another way to volunteer.

Behind the Scenes Volunteers: We are in need of people who would be willing to do some behind the scenes stuff for the Exodus ministry.  If you have extra time in your week and could help out in the office with administrative work we could use your help.  If you enjoy being outside, we are always in need of people who would be willing to run errands to help gather supplies for events and activities.

Café point person: Have you ever wanted to run a café but you never followed through because other things came up?  Well here is your chance to live out your dream.  We need someone who would be willing to be in charge of our café.  This would include making trips to the store on a regular basis to keep it stocked and anything else that you would like to do to keep our café in business.

Volunteer Application:
Thank you for your interest in the Exodus Ministry.  It would be a pleasure to have you on board in whatever capacity you feel God is leading you.  There is an application to complete for those who wish to volunteer in Exodus on a regular basis.  Please contact either Jeanne Scheetz 909.945.5001 x238 or Michael Westfall 909.945.5001 x263 for a copy of the application.  Thanks so much.

Ask Your Questions:

This is a place where you can ask any questions that you might have about the ministry or any questions that you need advice about.  These questions will be received and responded to by either Jeanne Scheetz or Michael Westfall.  They will do their best to email you back in a timely manner.  Please type your questions or concerns in the box below.
