For the next six weeks, the season called Lent, we will be focusing on the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew 5-7. Lent is the 40-day period, which begins on Ash Wednesday (February 22, 2012) and ends On Holy Saturday (April 7, 2012). For centuries, Christians have participated in a special remembrance of Jesus’ journey to the cross through various practices such as fasting, prayer, Scripture reading, and giving. The forty days is also associated with Jesus’ withdrawal into the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). Click here for more information on this series and for the Bible Reading Guide.
